Why Denmark’s ‘protest’ jerseys look like plain T-shirt

For the past six years, Hummel has provided the national soccer teams of Denmark with eye-catching jerseys with chevrons on the shoulders.

The Danish men took the field here on Tuesday in a 2022 World Cup uniform that appears to be a simple red shirt and serves as a protest.

The characteristic chevrons, as well as the insignia for Denmark and Hummel, are all there but "toned down."

Hummel claimed that the 1992 Denmark squad, which won the European Championship, was "inspired" by the jerseys.
